Drone Mapping & GPS Land Surveys in Warwickshire, Coventry, Leicestershire and Nottingham

What is drone mapping?

Drone mapping (also called aerial mapping or drone photogrammetry) uses a drone flying a pre-programmed grid over your site. It takes hundreds of overlapping, GPS-tagged photos. Specialist software then stitches them into one accurate, high-resolution map.

Because every photo carries GPS data, the finished map is georeferenced. You can measure distances, areas and boundaries, and line it up with other plans and mapping software.

What you receive

  • Orthomosaic maps: a single, distortion-corrected aerial image of your whole site, ideal for planning, records and presentations

  • Area and distance measurements: field sizes, boundary lengths, building footprints and access routes

  • 3D models and elevation data: a clear picture of slopes, levels and drainage

  • Stockpile and volume estimates: quick checks on earthworks, aggregates or spoil heaps

  • Progress records: repeat flights from the same route to track change week by week or month by month

  • High-resolution stills and video: for marketing, reports and stakeholders

Data is delivered in standard formats such as GeoTIFF, KMZ, PDF and JPEG, ready for GIS, CAD or Google Earth.

Why choose a drone survey?

  • Faster: large sites are captured in hours, not days

  • Safer: no need for people to walk unstable ground, rooftops or live sites

  • Cost-effective: a fraction of the cost of manned aircraft and quicker than many ground-only methods

  • Repeatable: the same flight path can be flown again for like-for-like comparisons

Who uses drone land and site surveys?

  • Landowners and estates: boundary checks, land management plans, woodland and hedgerow records, and visual evidence for sales or lettings

  • Farmers and agricultural businesses: field mapping, drainage and waterlogging checks, storm damage assessment and accurate acreage

  • Developers and housebuilders: pre-purchase site appraisals, planning application visuals and construction progress monitoring

  • Builders and contractors: earthworks tracking, stockpile estimates and regular progress reports for clients

  • Architects and planners: up-to-date site context that existing satellite imagery can't match

  • Estate agents and land agents: clear aerial plans that help buyers understand a property or plot

  • Solar, utilities and infrastructure: route planning, site layout and asset inspection

Areas covered across Warwickshire and the East Midlands

I cover the Midlands, with regular work in the following areas. Sites further afield are welcome, so just ask.

Drone mapping in Warwickshire

From farmland around Stratford-upon-Avon and Shipston-on-Stour to development sites near Warwick, Leamington Spa, Rugby and Nuneaton, I provide drone mapping and aerial land surveys across the whole county.

Drone surveys in Coventry

Coventry's regeneration and new housing schemes need clear, current site data. I offer drone site surveys and construction progress mapping across the city and its outskirts, with all flights planned around the relevant airspace rules.

Drone land surveys in Leicestershire

From rural estates in Harborough and Melton to commercial sites around Leicester, Hinckley and Market Harborough, drone surveys give Leicestershire landowners and developers fast, measurable maps.

Drone mapping in Loughborough

I provide aerial mapping in Loughborough and Charnwood for developers, agricultural land, education and business sites, and new-build schemes.

Aerial surveys in Nottingham

Across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, including Beeston, West Bridgford and the surrounding countryside, I deliver GPS drone mapping for construction, land management and planning.

Fully insured and licensed

Every flight is carried out legally, safely and professionally:

  • CAA-registered operator: registered with the UK Civil Aviation Authority, holding an Operator ID and Flyer ID

  • Fully insured: commercial drone liability insurance, with certificates available on request

  • Risk-assessed flights: every site gets a pre-flight assessment covering airspace, people, livestock and obstacles

  • Airspace checks: flight restrictions and permissions checked before every job, including near airports and built-up areas

  • Professional standards: ten years of self-employed commercial and editorial photography work

Many construction sites, estates and local authorities require proof of insurance and CAA registration before a drone can fly. I'm happy to supply paperwork ahead of the job.

How a drone mapping job works

  1. Enquiry: tell me where the site is, roughly how big it is and what you need the data for

  2. Quote and planning: I check the airspace, plan the flight grid and send a clear, fixed quote

  3. Flight day: the site is captured with GPS-tagged imagery, usually within a few hours

  4. Processing: images are processed into maps, models and measurements

  5. Delivery: you receive your files by secure download, in the formats you need

Drone mapping FAQs

How accurate is drone mapping?

GPS-tagged drone maps are highly accurate for measuring areas, distances and changes across a site. Where precise positioning on the national grid is needed, ground control points can be added. I'll advise on the right level of accuracy for your project when you enquire.

How big an area can you map?

Anything from a single building plot to large farms and estates. Bigger sites are flown in sections and joined into one map.

How quickly will I get my results?

Most sites are flown in a single visit, with processed maps typically delivered within a few working days.

Does the weather affect drone surveys?

Yes. Strong wind and rain can stop a flight, so I keep an eye on the forecast and rebook quickly if conditions aren't right.

Is drone mapping a replacement for a full topographical survey?

For many jobs, such as land management, progress tracking, planning visuals and area measurement, a drone map is all you need. For legal boundaries or engineering-grade design, it works best alongside a chartered land surveyor.
